Default Decided to Upgrade (By Accident!)

It was definitely by accident, as I just wanted to see how everything looked in the shopping cart before I pulled the trigger, but the order went through and I will get new speakers lol. The sticker shock is going to wear off soon, right?! I mean, I was mentally preparing myself, but maybe, this was just what I needed to push me over the edge! Or this is what I will keep telling myself.

    I went with the following:

    • Sierra 2X - Left/Right
    • Sierra Duo - Center
    • HTM-200 SE - Rears
    • TP-24 Stands

It was a choice between the SVS Ultras and these, and while the Ultra cost about 50% less and had good reviews, I did not want to eventually feel like I settled years from now.

This will replace an Energy RC-70 LR, Energy RC-LCR Center, and RC-10s as my rear surrounds.

While those speakers aren't bad, I just felt like they were missing that "something". And after reading all of the detail people hear from music (which I will use these mostly for - 50% music, 30% video games, 20% home theatre), I was drawn to these speakers (for years actually) - only wishing that one day I will own them and I guess that day is coming very soon.

Congratulations on your purchase. I think you'll be very happy with that set-up. Planning to add a sub :-)?

Thanks! Oops, I forgot to add that I have an SVS SB13 Ultra sub. I really can't wait to hear how everything sounds. I am feeling like a kid waiting for his Christmas present.

I have a 5.2 setup with all Ultra speakers. Towers up front and 3 books for my center and surround speakers. I stumbled across a pair of Sierra 2s on Craigslist for $650 and jumped on them. I've been listening to them for the last few weeks and have been seduced by the RAAL tweeter.

I will soon have 5 SVS Ultra speakers for sale once my Sierra Ribbon towers arrive, hopefully by the end of the week!

That makes me happier to know that you are upgrading from the speakers I was thinking of getting!

Can't wait to hear the assessment! Popcorn ready!
(Assume your "2X" should read "2EX" , correct?)

I thought it might. That's why I shared. I'll tell ya tho, if you had gotten the Ultras instead I don't think you'd have been disappointed. It took me a couple of weeks to make up my mind and I'm able to side by side compare. The Sierras really are next level. I'd say we're well into the point of diminishing returns in audio at this point.

Cool, thanks. From everything I've read, I really cannot wait. And I hope to finally be done reading lol. I went through more sets of speakers in the past ten years I ever anticipated. I think I need a break!

Yes, that's correct. Typos aren't fun. I already have some flacs I have mentally prepared to play once the set comes in.

Oh yeah? You gonna try and Fast 'n Furious my speakers before they get here? Well good luck, because I'm sending Mad Max and Furiosa to escort!
