Default Dual mounting holes on HTM-200... are both needed?

    Hi,

I've been using Sierra 1's for L/R/C since 2008, and still love them to this day. Now I'm in the market for small rear surrounds and the HTM-200's are at the top of my list. But I noticed they have dual rear mounting holes... I thought I did a lot of searching on this forum, but I couldn't find anyone asking the (obvious? stupid?) question as to whether I need a mount/bracket that can accommodate both mounting holes, or if I only need a mount that screws into one of the holes?

I'm hoping/assuming I just need to mount one of the holes, and not both?

I've got my eye on these:

But then something like this looks like it can accommodate both mounting holes:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000DIX1Y/

    Thanks in advance!

Since 2 holes are provided I'd use both, especially since they are off center relative to the cabinet.

Here's another option that swivels: https://www.parts-express.com/dayton...white--300-232

If you are wanting to flush mount the HTM-200's, then I'd suggest using picture hanging wire between the two bolts and hanging that on an earthquake hook. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BYSB5QK..._5GYGEb6GQG4YP You'll get a little bit of a downward angle which works perfectly for me. (HTM-200s and then Luna's) I also used a couple small rubber bumpers to protect the bottoms of the speakers

Thanks Nate for that suggestion. These will be mounted about 7 feet above the floor (8 foot ceilings, one in each top back corner of the room) and I'm thinking I'll need to tilt/angle them down slightly toward the seating area, otherwise the flush mount hanging wire would have been a nice clean option.

Just be sure the mount you decide to use handles or exceeds the weight capacity of your speaker.
My 200 are wall mounted and I used the method mentioned above.

*Those Dayton mounts are only rated for 10lbs. The JBL 210 pictured are ~8.1 lbs per spk.*

While the Dayton mounts specify "Up to 10lbs.", the HTM-200's are spec'd as 10lbs each. But also keep in mind that when a commercial product is rated for a specified capacity that there is usually a cushy safety factor calculated in, so you should be fine. I know from being a mechanical designer that we like to have at least a 120% safety margin, but usually shoot for 150%+.

Agreed....thus my initial post. I like those Dayton mounts...but what caught my eye was their 10lb rating. Conversely...I'm looking at replacement for my 200s with the Lunas sightly heavier and rest assured they better be 200% margin for error...lol.
