    Default L12 or LV12R

Which sub would be preferable for music only listening through vintage amps (1970's era)? Wiring would go from speaker out on amp to line in on sub and from line out on sub to speakers ( 2 speakers- no surround, center channel, sat speakers, ect.). Thanks, Jim

A popular notion is that a seales sub (L12) is better for music and a ported one (LV12) for movies.

While I personally believe that holds true for cheap subs and maybe for old ones, I am not sure it applies to newer subs and in particular Rythmyk's.

A notable difference between the L12 and the LV12 is that the latter has higher output. This is usually desired in home theater applications, generally not so critical for music (although one may argue it depends on the genre you listen to!!!)

I have a L12 and VERY happy with it. Got that primarily due to space constraints, even if I wanted I could have not fit a LV12. I find it more than capable for both music and movies. In my 17x13x8 room I can easily make windows rattle and feel bass with my body when watching movies with solid LFE and pushing the volume.

Only has higher output as it reaches the tuning frequency of the port.

So for sound quality either sub will deliver articulate response to signal at moderate db levels? For critical listening there will be no audible differences?

The L12 should sound slightly tighter.

Based on the rythmik site, the L12 might be better if you dont have any bass management
