What I just realized - the grill s/b 1" longer. Just leave the magnets where they are, only make it 1" longer.
Would cover up the slot and look great - even more elegant.
I can't believe it would make a difference in sound having the grill in front of the slot.
With a slot port with such small area - covering the port with grille material would dramatically impede performance. While the grille cloth is mostly acoustically transparent - it hinders air-flow and creates turbulence.
Try it yourself -- position your left hand about 5 inches away from your mouth and forcefully blow air to your hand. Feel the air-flow. Keep your left hand in the same position and with your right hand, hold the grille directly in front of your mouth and blow again. Do you feel any air even reaching your hand? Do you hear the turbulence created?
The smaller the port area - the greater the air velocity.
It is generally a bad idea to place grille cloth in front of a port. With a speaker like our horizon though, with such large overall port area and low port tune, air velocity is minimal and thus the grille has much less of an effect.
Excellent explanation. The same effect can be experienced with a simple window or door screen. I have a retractable door screen on the door going to my garage from the house. We leave the overhead door open about 1/3 along with the door to the house with the screen covering the doorway, as well as opening windows in the house to create a cross breeze. There is a HUGE difference in airflow with the screen retracted vs open, as well as audible wind noise as is whips through the screen mesh.

So out of curiosity, how does the Luna compare with your Harbeth?
You'd really have to hear them for yourself. I could see some people preferring the Harbeth and some people preferring the Sierra.
I'll say this - the Harbeths are about two grand a pair. For that money you could get a pair of the Sierra's, a $500 subwoofer and a $300 pair of speaker stands. And that system would blow the doors off the Harbeths. I'm using my Luna's with an SVS sub and it's an insanely good setup.
Only just discovered all the Luna discussions yesterday. When will those of us just finding out about them now be able to buy them, and how much will they cost?
Luna Duo V2 LR, Titan Horizon V2, and Rythmik L22 & L12 in HT, Sierra-LXs in study, S-2EXs and Duo V2 C in bedroom, S-1 NrTs in dining room, S-1s at work, HTM-200s in kitchen. Brother owns CMT-340s and dad has a pair of CBM-170s.
Just got my Luna's yesterday. Loving them as surrounds. Everything sounds so coherent with multi-channel music. With a Luna on either side of my couch, I'm getting really excellent imaging across the back of my room. 20170407_133900.jpg
