    I would think that it would change the tuning frequency of the sub, but if it's not designed to be plugged like an SVS or my HSU, it may damage the sub.

    I think Craigsub had a shootout where Hsu suggested plugging a port on a STF sub. The STF is not the variable tuning version and yet Hsu suggested it could be done to achieve a lower extension. I'm inclined to think that damage could occur more easily by increasing port area vs. decreasing.

    Okay, thanks for the responses guys.

    If I decide to try this, what could I use as plugs? If memory serves correctly (I'm at work anyway), the ports are about 2"-2 1/2" in diameter. I was thinking some of that gray, closed cell pipe insulation stuffed into the ports.....whaddaya think?
