    One 340 is a better choice in my opinion but a single 170 makes a fine CC.

    (Why) doesn't the 340 have the same problem (comb filtering) because it has two horizontal woofers?

    I believe that is eliminated since it was designed with the two drivers to begin with. That is not the same as having two speakers a few feet apart handling the same information. This would be an interesting question to get input from David or Jason about.
