    Default Bolts for drivers?

davef: Have you considered a future change to the Sierra cabinets to include embedded nuts on the interior side of the baffle, to allow for use of bolts rather than wood screws to install the drivers?

You've already shown your commitment to supporting current Sierra owners with upgrades - this would further facilitate that goal by enabling repeated removal/installation of drivers without the diminishing tightness of the wood screw-to-bamboo interface.

Bamboo seems better than MDF in that regard, but bolts (preferably Torx-head) would increase the overall build quality just the same.

Doing so would force us to raise retail pricing and I am not sure how well that would go over with our customers. In addition, what you are referring to are T-Nuts, and these often cause additional problems.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I figured it would entail an increased cost - it would be interesting to see how much.

It seems like T-nuts that have shorter as well as narrower/sharper prongs might work in bamboo. What problems are you thinking of?

Something else I noticed in reading some old posts was at least one Sierra owner who experienced a broken screw when attempting to remove a driver for an upgrade. With bolts you can get better, heat-treated hardware that won't break.
