    The only real placement quirk that I know of is due to the rear port design. It should be about 3" away from any walls.

    I have heard that Evo One, and it is a very nice little speaker. The biggest difference I think you will find in the midrange, the Acoustic Energy being thinner compared to the CBM-170, the 170 being better balanced overall and having a better body...but it is also a fair amount bigger.
