Default TV stand for sierra horizon?

What tv stands do you guys use for your sierra horizon?

Before I buy speakers id like to make sure i have room for them. I have a 65 inch tv that weighs about 150lbs. Need to find a tv stand that can hold the massive ascend center.

Only option i've found so far is a salamanders design triple with custom riser. Only costs $1600..............................

Looking for any other tv stand options as wall mounting IS NOT an option for the tv.

I experimented with putting a Sierra-1 center in a cabinet. The sound was poor, even with a B plug. We "bit the bullet" and wall mounted the TV. Now have the custom compact Horizon on the Cabinet under the monitor.

During my search for alternatives to wall mounting I ran across the BDI Stands, and Arena Mount. This allows the TV to be elevated on a stand with the cabinet under it. The Horizon might still be too tall. At least it is something to consider.

The Sierra Horizon Center with its front slot ports is a different animal than the Sierra-1 Center. It should sounds much better if in a cabinet...if you can find one suitable.

The Horizon is strong enough so that the TV could sit on it.

I agree that the front ports are a difference. Still... Better to not put it in a cabinet. I haven't seen any cabinets with a center speaker opening big enough for a Horizon. Maybe a custom one? Cabinet makers are pretty reasonable. If you don't get exotic on the wood.

Ive been wondering if the fabled Sierra-2 speakers will be front ported?

    Agreed.

If a Sierra-1 can be upgraded to a Sierra-2, then it is probably not front ported.

I can easily imagine a front ported stand mounted monitor from the
Ascend Skunk Works. We can all chose a name?

I am sure Dave has all kinds of prototypes. It is all about performance, value, and what will sell.

This is precisely why we had our console custom built. The spot where my center Sierra lives is 2 feet across and plenty tall enough for most centers (though not a horizon).

These guys also sell consoles specific to the needs of more audio-agressive folks: http://www.standoutdesigns.com/

If it's me though, I'd find a local cabinet maker and work something out. Shipping on a large piece of furniture like this... oh boy.
