Surround placement Question

I am very happy with my current 3.1 system with Sierras LCR. And my Martin Logan Depth i Sub. My listening position is 9 feet.

I was looking at the HTM-200 speakers for side surrounds. I only have one place to mount them....

Can I put them on the side walls, 6 feet above my head and about 3 feet forward? I will use omni Mounts to aim them.

Will it work?

Since the surrounds are meant to create sound to the sides and behind you, I don't think that would work too well.
