You might find this hard to believe (I was quite surprised myself), but with Boom Boom Pow running full range -- we managed to hit a very clean 108 dB measured at 12 feet (stereo pair). This was with a 150 watt amplifier. Keep in mind that this is in our extremely well damped listening room. Even at this extreme volume level, we managed to have a low volume level conversation between the 3 of us in the room and we heard each other speak with ease. This is most impressive for a pair of bookshelf speakers...
    Here is that information.

Can you comment again on the dynamic and loudness capability of the coming Sierra-2? I seem to remember you saying you could easily hit over 100db without distortion measured from a certain distance, but I don't remember and it appears it was lost from the restored backup of the forum..

    Thanks Mag_Neato

That was it... I don't think I will ever listen to music at those levels, but its nice to know that the speaker has that capability in case I want to watch something at THX reference levels which calls for the ability to reach that high.

No, I don't have a link for that. You will have to scan through the older posts from Dave. I believe the larger port will be incorporated in brand new Sierra-2's. People who plan on doing the upgrade themselves to their Sierra-1/NrT's will obviously have to use the original port tube, but Dave said their really is not a big difference.

That would be Thanksgiving, Ricardo. Hopefully Dave will make an announcement shortly after. Black Friday would be totally awesome!

Dave, any more tidbits to share in the meantime?

    Hi Ricardo,

At this point, providing an exact date, even an approximate week, is still not possible. Believe me, I wish I had control over this. I will say this, all PO's are in and component manufacturing is in full swing. There is still one outstanding item that we are still waiting to confirm with regard to an ETA - the goal is late November, and they know this -- but at this point, all I can do is keep my fingers crossed.

I can take a guess at the last component: epoxy resin from the Amazon rainforest!

It's the next breakthrough in speaker design. The epoxy is made in several stages by real Amazonian natives. Great time is spent traveling over 300 miles by foot, across raging rivers and crocodile-infested swamps to choose the right ingredients for the resin. The exact recipe is a closely-guarded secret, but I heard it involves Sapodilla trees, crocodile teeth, and plenty of bullet ants.

It's very easy to see the cause for delay...
