    I have noticed the same thing as well, but left them as is.

    Maybe give Ascend a call and ask.

    Hi Steve,

    We get this question a lot... Your grilles are not updside down. The cutouts around the top part of the grille frame are there to reduce high frequency reflections caused by the response of the tweeter bouncing off the grille frame.

    The grille frame is actually "tuned" to be extremely transparent. Just another optimization we take to improve the response of our loudspeakers...
