Hi everyone,
I'm currently looking for a nice pair of loudspeakers for our new (bigger) apartment that is not too expensive but accurate and good sounding. I'm not in a hurry because the apartment will be finished in 2013.
I have auditioned Magnepan's 1.7 and Martin Logan's Aerius. In the internet people praise these two for their transparency, staging and imaging. However, Magnepan's are not clean enough for my taste. The distortion level is rather high to my ear, especially in the mid/high freq. I could be wrong because I didn't do any measurement. I just didn't like it. Martin Logan's sound cleaner but I have a problem with their bass. It's too overwhelming to my taste. I prefer more neutral reproduction. Also there is a problem of bad offset frequency response. So I'm looking around on the internet again.
So, how did I find Ascend Acoustics? I came to know Ascend from http://askville.amazon.com/accurate-bookshelf-speaker-$200/AnswerViewer.do?requestId=1756657 When I opened Ascend's website, I think because of the color, I was reminded of this company
http://www.macsales.com/, which I trust a lot due to their good customer service and good quality products.
Long story short, after I read a lot of the website and lurking in the forum. I got a feeling that Ascend (Dave in particular) is really trustable and respectable company / person. I really like the honesty. So I decided to find a way to buy Sierra-1. At this moment I'm looking for a way to first audition Sierra-1 in The Netherlands. I thought by joining this community, some dutch owner might pop-up and invite me to an auditioning session
