170 side surrounds placement

Hello,
I am awaiting delivery of my 170's as side surrounds, manual states they should be placed on either side of listening spot and elevated two-three feet above seating area. Is this the norm for side surrounds, this seems rather high, I am contructing stands as I write this, should I build them to accommodate this 2-3 feet height? I really don't know, that is why I'm asking. Thank you.

I use the Omni Brackets sold here. They have worked beautifully. My speakers are a little higher, maybe 4-5 feet above sitting position and slightly behind me, pointed forward just a schooch. This has always worked well in my room.
