Was the new Blade Runner any good? Haven't watched it yet...
If you liked the original you'll most likely really enjoy 2049. Lots of ambiance, stunning visuals, powerful soundtrack. intriguing plot line that keeps you guessing up to the end (at least for me). It was my first 4k movie after purchasing an OLED and it surpassed my expectations!!

I thought 2049 was amazing. But I've been watching the original Blade Runner since the days of VHS so I am a bit biased. Helps to watch it at night in a very dark room.

For me, it is a great movie just as movie. But it has become my new reference disk for video and audio quality. And i'm only watching on Blu-ray... can't wait to see it on 4k.

The soundtrack in 2049 is really good. It is on my list of movies to watch now that my theater is almost complete. The Atmos effects are outstanding if you're running the heights or ceilings.

Thanks -- hoping I will find some time to watch tonight. I did enjoy the original.

Well it has been two wonderful months with my RAAL towers. I'm in my 40s, got into audio gear at age 15, and will just come right out and say that these are the best speakers I've ever owned. With my 8 yeard old Sierra-1s coming in second place.

Price wise, the only other time I've owned speakers that approached $3000 would have been from Unity Audio. I don't remember the exact model- CLA-1s maybe? Bookshelf speakers with a 6.5 driver, ceramic dome tweeter, with another conventional tweeter on the back. They came with a pair of passive sealed subs. Each sub had two 10" drivers. I owned the Unity Audio system from roughly 2000 to 2010. Now I don't trust my audio memory well enough for a detailed comparison- plus I changed houses and electronics- but I'll take the towers over the UA speakers any day.

I think my favorite thing about the towers is their ability to show little details I've never heard before. There are certain CDs (Dire Straights, Fleetwood Mac, Tori Amos) and movies (Heat, Casino, Kingdom of Heaven) that I know front to back after YEARS of listening. Yet whenever I turn on the towers, I hear new things.

And that bass. Deep, fast, and clean. And when the recording calls for it, the towers can really pressurize the room.

As for my old Sierra-1s, they live with my girlfriend now. Powered by the new PS Audio Sprout100 integrated. So she has an amazing sounding stereo in her apartment, doing double duty for 2.0 music and movies.

You couldn't have said it better! The speakers have great manners. They're polite and truthful.

I probably missed it, but are there any pics / details of the OPPIX crossover in this thread? Thought I read every post while reading up on the towers, but I could have missed something. Thanks!

here is a quick pic I just took for you of our tower crossover. It is a very large and complex crossover with all air-core inductors (which you can clearly see) and metalized PP capacitors.

    Thanks for the picture!

I had a friend come over and listen to my towers. He's been into audio gear for about the same time as me- 25 or so years. So we were talking woofers, ribbon tweeters, midrange drivers, and cabinet design. But I realized I didn't know much about the crossover. Very impressive hardware there!
