High level vs line leve connection

What us the essential difference between using high level and line level connections on the subs?

Line level refers to unamplified signals from a pre-amp or receiver....ie. the RCA connections on the back of these devices..

High level are the speaker outputs....amplified signals that are meant to go directly to the speaker(s).

So in a 2-channel set up with full range sepakers, line-level would probably be the best option, correct? The highlevel would be more appropriate for letting the subs cross-over feed the mains and relieve the main amps of the bass signal (bi-amping).

You always want line-level as long as you have the sub-out on your receiver. Only use high-level if you must.

Agreed-- it is a purer signal. When using a high-level signal, it has already been amplified and when it gets to the subwoofer, it is padded down and then amplified once again.
