Default 340 classics and tube amp

    Hi all & Dave

Read the thread on the Sierra's and tube amps. How about the Ascend 340's (classic) and tubes.

I just picked up a very nice tube amp that was being blown out for half price, though it is not a powerful beast (rated for 15 watts / channel but probably more like like 11 watts based on the tubes used). It is capable of driving 4ohm speakers as well as 8 ohms. Now, I haven't tried it yet, as I have my old Polk RT800i's hooked up to them, but would this amp do the Classics any justice? I'm pretty sure they would and I plan on trying it very soon, but just wondering if anyone out there has already tried it and what their results were.

    Thanks!

    Hey Kpt,

    Hope all is well!

The original 340 classics are very efficient and will match up well with a nice warm sounding tube amp, even if only 15 watts or so. Remember, it only requires 1 watt into 1 of those speakers to reach approximately 91dB at 1 meter, which is loud.

I can clearly recall several customers being extremely pleased with the classic 340's and tube amplifiers - the warmth matches up well with the custom Audax drivers.

    Take care!
