I know next to nothing about loudspeaker design so here goes.
Is there a technical reason why some loudspeakers are front ported and others rear ported? As an end user front ported makes speaker placement a little easier. It is often asked by people how close to the rear wall can a rear ported speaker be positioned.
Why are crossovers always mounted on the inside of the cabinet? Why not the outside? If placed on the outside could they be made more user serviceable, and upgradeable?
And finally what is the difference between ported and passive radiator loudspeakers with regards to bass response and output?
