ultralink speaker wire

I would like to know if their is really a difference between what i can buy at home depot vs all other speaker wires as anyone bought the ultralink mx-2 can you really hear a difference or do you just think that you do because it cost twice as much. I'm useing 12 gauge flat speaker wire that I bought from a local electronics store

There are probably measureable differences, the question is if they translate to audible differences.
