    Default Stacked Ascends?

Has anyone ever tried to stack there Ascends? I use to own 2 pairs of Large Advents back in the 70s. Here are some links

Hi,Jonnyozero3,the 340s would not be the speakers of choice. I should have been a little clearer. The 170s would be the ones that I would use and hook them up in parallel. The drop in impedance does require caution. You need an amp that could handle it.

The Advents worked really well for me when I had them stacked and hooked up this way.Incredible sound.

I was wondering if anybody has tried this with the 170s.

    Thanks for the link

After hearing these Sierra's....I'd say *definitely* buy a pair of them before you buy two pair of 170s. Just my humble opinion though

Yes, I probably would buy a pair of Sierras before I would 2 pair of 170s new. On the other hand used is a different story. With so many folks upgrading these days finding a used pair is a bit easier. If I were to go in this direction the total investment would be aprox $250,or even less. I already own 1 pair and bought this pair used. Just toying with the idea.

I admit stacked170s w/wo a subwoofer fascinates me,especially if no one has experimented with this set-up. That is a 2 channel stereo set-up.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's interesting. I'm guessing the lobing/combing issues might still be present though, but I wonder if placing the upper 170 upside down would help...

Yes, upside down is exactly the way to do it. Thanks for your replies.

I have decided to go in this direction with stacked 170s. I have sent an e-mail to Ascend requesting a price on b-stock, or used if available. Also, I detailed my intended use and configuration as a 2-2.1 channel set-up. I detailed it out of warranty considerations.
