    Default Ceiling mount idea

i've been trying to figure out the best way to go about mounting my 170se surrounds in my basement for a while. previously when i had the system set up here, they were just sitting on top of some boxes for a temporary setup. i'm gonna be at home for a while now, though, so i'd like a more permanent solution.

the ceiling in the room is open, so all the ceiling beams are exposed. this is an idea i came up with using these as the mounting point:

i was thinking of buying some sort of metal strip (assuming i can find one like i want) that could be bolted to the ceiling beam and then hold the speaker using the supplied threaded inserts. i would use one strip for each insert, so it'd end up being supported by two of these metal strips.

does this seem like a decent setup, and will the cabinets be ok being supported like this? from other mounting solutions i've seen around these boards, i'd think it would, but i'd rather check before going and doing something stupid...

cool, thanks. seeing how you had yours connected to the ceiling beams at your place sort of gave me the idea. they should be mounted upside down that close to the ceiling, right?

Mine are mounted upside down, yes. It was suggested to help with reflections and bass gain.

now that i've got all my speakers set up, thought i'd post some pictures...

first the surrounds with the mounting solution i described above:

and the rest of my setup:

not the best room for a home theatre, seeing as it is huge. (the area in the pictures is just one corner of the room), but it still sounds great.
