Curtis, did you ever do the comparison, or is it in another thread.

There is another thread somewhere....but yes, I have compared. The Sierra is a better speaker all the way around. If you have a larger room that you need to fill with sound at loud levels...especially for HT, then 340SE would best the Sierra...but that is the only scenario that favors the 340SE that I can think of.

Thanks, I have the 340SE's and love them, listen to a lot of multi channel music and wondered if it is worth the extra money for the seirra's. Wish i lived in So. Cal so I could hear them. ha. So far no listing in Atlanta area to audition.

In my case, it was absolutely worth the money. Having said that, I am using the 340 se's for HT, and the Sierras strictly for two channel music. I think the 340's are fantastic speakers. I got the Sierra's because a Mcintosh amp and preamp fell into my lap, the Sierras are incredible speakers and I didn't want to take the 340's out of my Ht.

i've got a McIntosh amp sitting in my house right now (it's a friend of the family's, he's storing it here while his family moves). i've never heard any McIntosh equipment, so i think i might try to get him to set it up with my ascends

    Drewface,

That sounds like a great idea!

I always lusted after McIntosh when I was younger, but I could never afford them, thankfully that has since changed.
The ascends sound amazing with my amp(s)
