HTM200 Grill Depth - Size

I'm currently in the process of building columns for my theater and I've chosen to go with Ascend as my speakers. The HTM 200's will be used for surround speakers within the columns. The specifications mention that the depth of the speaker witht he grill is approximately 6.375". What is the true depth without the grill?

If I make the columns 7" deep will that be sufficient enough?

reminder that if you have the opening to fit the speaker, don't forget that you have to hook it to wires. so if you are using plugs or something like this, leave enough room back there should they stick out a little!

Thanks for the information. I plan on getting right angle banana plugs so I believe the 1" space should be good.
