A sealed-enclosure speaker with a second order rolloff at 80 Hz (3 dB down.) (And no, the HTM-200 does not seem to suffice for this.)

Why? What benefits are you expecting from such a design?

* Sierra-2EX's W/V2 crossover upgrade
* (2) Rythmik F12's
* Parasound Halo P6
* Audio by Van Alstine DVA-M225 Monoblock Amps
* MiniDSP 2x4HD For Sub calibration
*World's Best Cables Canare 4S11 speaker cables
I would expect such a design to have optimal crossover to the subwoofer when used with a THX-type crossover set to 80 Hz.Originally Posted by Mag_Neato

I was thinking along the same logic. THX optimized X-overs will most likely take Dave away from his design goals of a flat, neutral sound. I am no expert, just my thoughts. I am sure Dave could answer that so we all understand it

Size and money! Maybe a little efficiency. I will give up cigars too if that helps.Originally Posted by bikeman
The customer and Ascend are going to have to give up a heck of a lot more than that if it's brought to market. Run it by Dave F. He's up all night lately so this might be a good mental exercise to pass the time.Originally Posted by JackT
