    Default Stereo processing

Is there a soundcard that I could use to process stereo signals by running the signal through my PC?

I've been using the AuzenTech HDA X-Plosion 7.1 DTS Connect card in my PC. It' does real-time encoding of stereo signal to DTS or Dolby Digital bitstreams.

I'm quite pleased with it, and it would be a great card to use in a HTPC.

    Some detailed reviews:

Could a soundcard be effectively used to filter out static? I record from FM and have a terrible static problem.

I'm not sure the sound card itself would support his sort of filtering but I'm sure there are any number of programs that would allow you to apply arbitrary filters to a signal. How effective that would be without substantially altering sound quality I don't know.

The static issue is not generated from the source, but generated from your reception, whithin your home or not. Are you using a dipole antennae or cable?
Your gear right inside your kit may be the source(Nad is notorious for this). I suggest a ferrite ring around our source interconnects. One for each, very simole and cheap, twice wound for limp cables, a 'straight through' for rigids.

    Usually works.
