Default Do I need any absorbing material?

My 340c lives in the space above my TV behind a cloth covered door:

The cabinet that it is in is rather large. Here is a pic of the speaker in the cabinet:

Yes, it's dusty. Anyway, the cabinet is 58.5 inches wide, 12 inches tall, and 30 inches deep. The rear of the 340 sits about 18 inches from the back wall of the cabinet. Should I have some sound absorption material in there such as fiberglass insulation? The speaker sounds good but I think I might be losing something with the sound bouncing around in the rather cavernous cabinet that it's in.

    Thanks

Not sure about the inside of the cabinet, but is the tweeter lined up with the bar in the middle there?

Yeah, a board lined up with the tweeter would be bad.

As for material in the cabinet, try a simple test by putting a blanket or pillows in there and see if it sounds better. Don't pack it full, just some stuff around the edges.

No it's not -- should have mentioned that. I have it lined up so that the middle support falls right between the tweeter and the midrange driver.

I'll try some pillows and blankets -- thanks for the suggestion!
