I'd vote for two floorstander models based on the 170 and the 340.

    *FRM-170 (Full Range Monitor)

    *FRM-340 (Same)

Price them between the standard models.....CBM-170=$350/pr.,FRM-170=$450/pr. etc.

Also, maybe an ultimate performance series with real wood veneers.(Ultimate Performance Monitor)

I thought of that, but did not want to put that out there....leaves it open for an undesirable nickname (If you "smell" my meaning )

heh, I like "tight tuneful bass" that I can actually HEAR in my cavernous space.

Hence the nearfield placement idea is very attractive. I have an Infinity Kappa sub (10" sealed) that sits directly behind the driver's seat in my truck pointing at my back when I drive, and wow it makes a huge difference even with vocal-based rock/jazz like Madeleine Peyroux.

Making the 170 or 340 into a floorstander won't be enough make them full range. Perhaps something like either the 170 or 340 driver set with an additional 8" or 10" driver.

I suppose you could forego the 170-based tower, and simply build off the 340 to produce a third model to the line. You could add one or two additional drivers below the standard CMT-340 driver layout for that bottom end extension, keeping the cabinet width the same, but obviously making it taller and perhaps deeper as well. drop response into the low 30's, high 20's!

This might cause some conflict with my bride but I think we could work our way through it. I'd be all over these in a heartbeat.

I have been pretty happy with my CDT Audio car speakers. They are not internet direct only, but also available from other webstores and some traditional stores. For car subs....I really like my Hsu car sub.
