    Default calibration

    Hey
I was reading the description of the HK AVR-335 receiver it implied that the receiver needed calibration. Is this true of all receivers? I'm a novice who trying to learn so any help will be appreciated.

they may be referring to the need to set the speaker levels/delays appropriately. Ideally, each speaker should have the same loudness at the "sweet spot" in your room. Some H/K's have a built in way to do this (called EZ-set, I think). Otherwise, you can use your ears or a decibel meter (about $40 at Radio Shack) to set the speaker levels correctly.

    Default Thanks

    Thanks sls7u
I'm trying to decide on an amp, not an easy task for me, and there are a lot of opinions. I want to use it for mostly for movies, any suggestions as to what to look for? I will be using Ascend 340's front and center 170's rear.
At least I don't have to worry about trying to figure out how to cal. the amp.
There is enough for me to learn in order to get my system up and running.
    Again thanks for the help.
This is a great forum, I am learning a lot.
