Positioning Center Channel Under TV?

As much as I like the center channel mounting solution that David F has posted in the forum, the wall behind my plasma is solid brick, and actually backs up to an elevator shaft, so there are random metal plates intermixed with the bricks.

The tv stand that my plasma is sitting on has a shelf underneath the tv that is plenty large enough for the 340C that I have on the way. I plan to get more sorbothane to place under the speaker to isolate it, but I would like to angle it up. It will only be about 8 inches off the floor, so it would be nice to angle it a bit (since seating is about 10 feet back, it won't need to be angled too much).

Has anyone found a good solution for doing this (foam wedges etc)? Or am I best off just trying to prop it up with layers of sorbothane or something?

See post #3 in Dave's sticky center channel thread. My center is under my TV, angled up using Auralex MoPads.

It works for me, but not ideal. Above the TV provides a more realistic center image IMO.

I use a rolled-up dark towel to prop up the front, then a couple squares of sorbothane for damping the back corners. Sorta lame, but works. Maybe you could use a couple pieces of sorbothane (maybe 3/4"-1" wide, coiled-up) at each of the front corners of the 340C. Probably not as cool looking as the Auralex stuff though.

Ahh, rubber door stop, perfect. I ordered some sorbothane (good thing mcmaster-carr carries it, no way I am going to order it from one of the audiophile shops), and will have to try it with a rubber door stop.

Can someone post a link to a picture of one of these door stop thingies? How much of an angle do they give you? The Auralex thing looks like far too much for my setup.
