    Default Question about external amp

    Men,

I have a NAD surround sound receiver. I am thinking about adding a 5 channel amp and the NAD SSR has the ability to ouput the 5 signals (left, center, right, LR, RR) to the amp. My quesstion is this ... i want to be able to listen to music in stereo using the external amp. Am I able to do this? So bascially I will only be using 2 of the 5 channels from the external amp. I'm not sure the NAD can only send out only 2 channels or does this even really matter.

I hope I am making sense here.

    Thanks,
    Khoi

    Nice Avatar!

You can absolutely do it. You'd simply select a stereo listening mode on the receiver. Usually "stereo" would actually be 2.1, mains plus sub assuming you're using bass management to cross over to your sub via the LFE out. Or you could choose a "direct" mode that simply sends unprocessed, un-EQd stereo full-range audio out the LR main outs. Works exactly like using the receiver by itself, just using external amplification instead.

Default Thank you for the reply. :)

BTW, anyone know where Rotel manufactures their equipment?

I believe Rotel makes all its gear in China.
