Are you saying the SBS are actually more sensitive than the published numbers show?

Highly unlikely. Most manufacturers stretch their numbers as far as possible.

Also, there are no standards for numbers. Ascend uses +/-3dB rating on the 170 as no one frequency point is more than 3dB from another over that range. SVS uses +/-3dB as no one frequency is more than 3dB from a central point in the given range. Which means it has a 6dB variation window in the stated range.

I have heard two versions of the CBM-170....the "normal" version that we all love, and another version where the owner allowed a well known DIY guy tweak the crossover. Both measured FLAT....yet the one with the changed crossover sounded VERY different.
