I was told by DaveF that you need minimum of about 4 to 5 inches behind the 170's if your crossover is set at 80 Hz.

Thanks guys for your input. I just placed a front stage LCR order for both the 170s and 340s and hear for myself. I expect to be surprised with all the good comments here and elsewhere. Actually, I praise Ascend owners (as well as ACI owners) for being low key and not fanatical like other internet speakers owners out there. I want good sound and a good community to support it -- it just doesn't have to be cult like .
