SVS does. I've upgraded both my driver and amp on my SVS.

Now, I don't know how long I could live without my speakers in the living room. Gonna have to be a swap out for the upgraded units for me. Send me the new, I'll send you back the old.

For those worried about giving up your speakers for a while for an upgrade, what about sending your rears in to be upgraded first. When they return, swap them in as your mains and send your mains in to be upgraded. Granted, you'll have to run with a phantom center when your center is upgraded, but you would never be without at least a 2.1 setup. Those with 7.1 could rotate pairs in and still have 5.1 for most of the time (4.1 while the center is upgraded).

I would have to do it in such a way as to NOT be noticable to my spouse!

Which means do it all at once.

Lee...won't she notice them being gone for a little while? Depending on how the program works, maybe you could drive down from the central valley and get everything done in day?

I just don't want you to get into trouble.

That's a long day's drive in horrendous traffic.

Bought my first pair of Ascends (170's and of course unheard) directly from Ascend though an Ebay auction. Ascend was just starting up and used Ebay as a marketing tool. (Dave F: Do you remember this?) I'd have to look it up, but I think my serial number is 00069. The 00069 are used as rears nowadays and I use 340's up front. This should give you an idea how long I've been a happy listener. Besides all this, I think I still have the boxes!!!!

Anyways, what I really want to say is: "Count me in for the upgrades." Dave F will get my 340M's while I'll nostagically listen to the 170's up front (they gave me so many hours of pleasure in this capacity) while the 340's becomes SE's. When they come back, he can do the 340MSE's and a 340CSE.

Congratulations to Ascend and their customers!

We in the north will have another reason to stay inside this winter.

Just to clarify... according to an email I received from David, the 170s are upgradeable--i.e. you will be getting the same speakers back, with new insides--while the 340s will have to be traded in for new SE models.

Thanks for the info. If this was written somewhere, I missed it. I'll still upgrade.

Had I found any bookshelf speaker that I enjoyed moreso while I've owned these, I would have bought them already. If Dave F says the SE's are better sounding......... We'll I'm in.

Although I would love to have a pair with a piano black finish or a beautiful wood veneer, it is after all the sound reproduction I enjoy.

    I'm so bummed.

I've waiting to buy speakers for a year and a half, finally pulled the trigger on 170/340c/200 system on the 22nd, and now I read about better new ones coming out soon.

I haven't ever received my order yet. It's scheduled to arrive next week.

Hopefully the new ones will be twice the price so I couldn't have gotten them anyway..
