    Default Biwiring

EXBAC Technology, is mentioned in the biwire secrtion of the CMT-340, did a search for it online, came up with nada. I think I've already brought this up, but have yet to hear from someone who actually has seen a difference with biwiring. Is this terminal for Biamping instead? Say 1 channel of power to each of the terminals (not sure if that's the correct terminology).

Just out of curiousity rather than anything else, cause I'm fine the way it is.

EXBAC is in the crossover and works whether you biwire or not. EXBAC is also specific to Ascend and how they deal with the extended baffle created by a television.

My speakers are currently biwired, and I hear no differences, but it does look cool.

    Default more on biwiring

The vandersteen article mentioned in this thread at least makes some claims as to how biwiring might help.

It seems pretty dubious to me.

I read Dave F's post about this, and I guess what I was considering doing is technically amplifier bridging. I know there are some other people around here that have the Denon 3805. Has anyone tried using the extra set of amps (if you aren't using 7.1) to drive extra power to the 340's?

I know this doesn't acheive true biamping, but it would give some more control over the bass to treble ratio (since the low end could be adjusted seperately), and would also provide some more headroom. Any thoughts on this? I am just curious, and wondered if anyone had tried this for their stereo listening needs.

^ that is a good read for any 3805 shoppers or owners.

^ that section speaks of the bi-amp capabilities

i have never tried the bi-amp capability simply because i always thought; why would you bi amp with two different amps? more importantly, the review has the following quote ... Accordingly, Denon is not "officially" endorsing this practice on this specific model ...

i have never taken the 3805 above ~ -23.0db. the ascends are quite efficient and easy to drive. the 3805 has good power and low distortion. if you have a lust for more power, you really need to step up to a separate amplifier that has identical amps across the board. or at least separate the amp and processor stages and go right to a pre/pro setup.

if i was in the market for a pre/pro setup i would look at outlaw, rotel, and sherwood.

going a bit further i would challenge 3805 owners who claim a large difference exists between standard setup and the bi-amp mod/hack of the receiver to a golden ear test.

Yeah... I'd love to hear that too!

Correctamundo. It's rare that I get my 3805 above -20.0db (and it's got to be a very quiet passage!). I used to get it to -10 with my old speakers, but you are correct, the Ascends... especially the 340's just don't need it. I'm often finding myself thinking something is pretty loud in the -30 range.

In other words, I can't imagine needing to bi-amp these.... with this rcvr. especially.

    cheers

Well, sounds like I won't need to bother. Man, I can't wait for payday now. Stupid fellowship only paying me at the end of the month. I have been waiting for so long to buy these speakers.
