You should also check out the black bamboo finish.

The black matte on our domestic cabinets (towers, horizon, Sierra-2EX etc.) is absolutely good enough for a living room. This is the finish I have for my set of towers in my living room (along with a black matte duo).
Here is a pic I just took of the black matte, this is from a pair of Sierra-2EX (same finish) heading to Singapore today. There is a slight texture to the finish, it is quite nice actually but this is a bad pic (iPhone).

If running the towers full range, we generally recommend a minimum of 5-6 inches. If running with a sub with the towers crossed between 60-80Hz, half that distance.

How does it differ from the matte finish? Smoother? More satin like?

It is black stain. You can seen the bamboo layers through it.
Re: Tower and Horizon finish question
I have satin black towers. Smoother finish than the matte black, with just some reflection but not nearly as much as gloss black.

Thanks Dave, I will not have any issue with that distance in my living room.
The Tower Discussion Thread
I live in the South Carolina midlands and would really like to audition the Sierra Towers w/Raal before purchasing. If anyone lives within a couple hours of the Columbia/Sumter area and would like to show off your Raal Towers, I would be grateful. Private message me if you can help. Thanks!
