Re: Sierra-1 NrT: Next phase?
OK, let's put together what we know:
1) The tweeter is a genuine RAAL!!
2) The new tweeter, and assumed new woofer, will be direct-fit replacements requiring no cabinet
mods.
3) There will be a new crossover.
4) The upgrade will sound AMAZING!
5) November cannot come quickly enough!!
Does that about sum it up, or did I miss anything?

We also know the cabinets will be the same bamboo material as the S-1, they will be available from the same overseas cabinet maker in the current standard S-1 finishes with the same port arrangement. It will also be available with the same satin finishes as the Towers, with a different port arrangement (same diameter as Tower, different tuned length) from the US cabinet shop.
We know Dave is really excited about this new speaker, which pretty well means it's an awesome performer at a very reasonable price point. We know that the Ascend faithful are quite anxious for the release date.

Re: Sierra-1 NrT: Next phase?
Well, since the forum had to be rebooted from a backup and we lost a few days of posts, I will kick off the reboot!
Dave posted that the Sierra-2 would have more detailed bass and stronger midbass, if not as deep as the Sierra-1, but he has been listening to his pair of Sierra-2's full range without a problem.
Re: Sierra-1 NrT: Next phase?
One question for the rebooted forum: Are we still on track for shipping late November?
Re: Sierra-1 NrT: Next phase?
I just started the hunt for my next reference speakers, and the Sierra-1 was at the top of my list. I came over here for clarity, and now all I have is another speaker to add to my list: http://forums.audioholics.com/forums...tml#post992573
I'm excited to see the new model. I will definately hold off my purchase until the release.

You certainly have a list of worthy contenders. I'd be very interested in hearing a comparison between the SVS and Sierras!

Me too. I wish I still had the SVS for comparison. Oh well, I'll just have to rely on the proven-fallible acoustic memory.
Is anyone with Sierras located in Western Oregon? I'd love to arrange an audition if you'd be willing.

That is the plan, but there is one last item we are waiting to be completed so delays are still a very real possibility. Believe me, I certainly hope this will not be the case ;)

The realities of delays are more frustrating to the manufacturer than the end user simply due to the amount of investment put into the project. The customers are simply waiting for the product to be released, so adding some wait time is no big deal.
Dave, here's wishing you clear and calm waters ahead!
Re: Sierra-1 NrT: Next phase?
Hello Dave,
Can you comment again on the dynamic and loudness capability of the coming Sierra-2? I seem to remember you saying you could easily hit over 100db without distortion measured from a certain distance, but I don't remember and it appears it was lost from the restored backup of the forum..
