new speaker help

I was looking at speakers for another room in the house a few months back but some things came up. I am back on the hunt and was wondering if anyone here has heard any of the following speakers and how the compare to the Ascends

-Monitor Silver or Gold series
-Energy Conn.
-ACI
-Onix Reference 1
-Quad llL or 12L

or any others that you may have heard would be really appreciated
