I've seen that too, not sure if that is part of the floating blacks or just the compressed cable signal. You mentioned another thing I have seen, color gradients. Overall I still love the TV, DVD's and HD-DVD's look fantastic. I tend to prefer the plasmas over the other technologies, but the newer Sony 1080p LCD's are very nice but pricey. Good luck with your new toy.

Put it this way, she LOVES the new set at this time.
Smiles ear to ear, which is what gift giving is all about!!
I'm gonna be watching it some more, I just switched to 480P ( on the 480 overide) to see if that'll curtail the issue.
I too am wondering about compression.
Thanks Johnny,

You might want to watch a DVD before you drive yourself nuts with a cable signal. Oh just a reminder your cable box and dvd player setup should be changed to the 16:9 format.
Congrats on your purchase.

Of course.
I've had a 57" WS for a couple of years now, and the DVD player is my old one, setup for 16:9.
The first thing I did with the Box, was make sure it was set to 16:9, it was already.
Thanks, she loves it, and that was the whole point of me getting for her.
I haven't hooked up a DVD player yet, but I'm certain it'll look great.
Happy Holidays Everyone!!
