Amazon is the 800 lb gorrilla of internet sales. CDWOW (who?) is a fly spec. Amazon has the marketing muscle to do business on issues other than price. CDWOW (who?) can only dream about that kind of clout.
Amazon occasionally undercuts everyone on price on a few selected items. My new Panasonic 55 receiver ($199) and 87 DVD player ($80) both came from Amazon and included free shipping. No one else was even close on price. When Amazon decides to undercut everyone, they take no prisoners. But that's the exception. Most of the time it's full or close to full retail. They've even started to turn an occasional profit after years of losses.
