The acoustical center of the RAAL tweeter appears to be pretty close to the face of the baffle compared to the Curv driver. Does anyone know if there is any correction for this in the crossover?
If not, is it recommended to time align them by tilting the speakers back a few degrees or will this be more trouble than it's worth due to the vertical dispersion of the ribbon?
I highly doubt you would be able to hear any difference either way.
Try it...best way is to test it yourself.
Perfect time alignment between drivers is not possible without the use of digital filters, even if the drivers are "supposedly" aligned using a sloped baffle. Phase changes with frequency so while one can achieve perfect alignment at a specific frequency at a specific point in space, it is impossible to achieve this throughout the entire bandwidth without very complex digital filtering.Quote:

With the Sierra-2 (and all of our products) - we employ phase shifts caused by the crossover filters to achieve very tight phase integration and time alignment. I would not recommend tilting the cabinets backward as this would throw this off.
