the mighty mighty bosstones' new release: 'Pin Points and Gin Joints'
absolutely amazing.
A Lalo Schifrin compilation-- such rich, intriguing stuff to my ears... and why are the best remastered CDs coming form across the pond??
Hi!
I am listening now to a Robbie Rivera's music channel:

love it
Queen Greatest Hits- around reference
She went to a concert with the girls.......I have something like that right here. :D
It is very good way to express our feeling about music. Listening music is one of my hobby, I like to listen all kind of music like romantic, sad song, rocking, Hi Pop, Remix, classical etc. thanks for sharing such kind of post. Right now i am listening Hi Pop music in my Ipod.
Currently I am listing Pin Points and Gin Joints music. Awesome music.
I like its all lines and sounds.
Little River Band- Reminiscing
Dire straits(Brother in arms)
Cant go wrong with YES!!! all albums are great on sierra's.
Joni Mitchell
Case
Last night I used my way-back machine, Peter Gabriel's "So". The Sierra's brought out a lot more detail than I ever remember hearing with my previous set of speakers.
I have found that to be true of alot of material I have re-listened too. Especially artists like PG. There are layers in there you never new were there. Dust off some more of your not recently listened to discs and you will be surprised........I always am.
I completely agree. Another example is Steely Dan's "Aja". I've been a casual listener of Steely Dan for years. I don't own any of their CDs but enjoyed their music on the radio, many of their songs are instantly recognizable. Last week I came across Aja at my local library so I checked it out to give it a listen.
OMG! This has to be one of the best recorded disks I've ever heard. The unique voice (does Donald Fagen have a lisp?), the layers of instruments, the detailed crisp cymbals, the tight drumming, the subtle horns, all came gloriously throught the Sierra 1s. None of this I've heard before.
listening to maroon 5, move like jagger
sublime (badfish) that song really sounds good on sierras. Hell every song does
talking heads, burning down the house. just awesome, sounds like there in the room.
Marty Robbins "Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs".. Sierra's all 'round..Grady's guitar..OMG ! What a great recording. :D
That is great that someone is listening to Marty Robbins' Gunfighter ballads, I was always a fan of "Big Iron."
To the town of Agua Fria (?) rode a stranger one fine day...:)
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love (vinyl)
Vangelis - Chariots of Fire soundtrack (vinyl)
sunday morning faves around here
I finally picked up Kate Bush's "Fifty Words for Snow" on LP. Don't have a turntable at the moment, but the 180gm edition came with a CD; it sounds excellent and the music is wonderful.
I am also loving Puscifer's "The Conditions of My Parole" (i.e. MJK, the singer for Tool and A Perfect Circle). The album artwork is about as silly as it gets but the music is fantastic (think country duet with some hard rock in the mix) and the sound quality beyond reproach.
Finally, the soundtrack to "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" (Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross) continues to amaze.
Good listening to all of you!
After hearing them perform on the Grammys this year, they really raised my interest, so I finally got their CD.
The Civil Wars "Barton Hollow"...wasn't sure it was going to be my type of music, but it is EXCELLENT!

Alicia Keys and Tori Amos to spotlight the (NrT) Towers female vocals and midrange presence.
Dire Straits, Talking Heads, Wilco and Mumford all shined today.
Sarah Vaughan (Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown) - I've probably listened to this album a thousand times. I'll easily do another thousand. Top to bottom, it's gotta be one of the best Jazz albums of all time. And the music really comes alive through the towers....
@dittomusik: Is your copy of "Hounds of Love" a re-release (i.e. remastered)? Ms. Bush recently remastered "The Sensual World" and "Red Shoes". The CD sound on "Hounds of Love" is a bit lacking - I would love to hear a retooling of that! I had the album, but crazy ex-wives...
@Sonic Ray: I know Ms. Amos is a gifted artist in her own right, but when she first appeared on the music scene, she was on Letterman, at the keyboard in a classic Kate Bush pose (left leg well behind the bench) with classic KB vocals and I immediately yelled at my TV, "Rip off!" If I was not a Bush fan in the first place, I probably would have loved Amos' music, but, alas... Please, no offense intended towards to your musical tastes!
@everyone else - thank you so much for this thread and the official one - lots of music to audition and buy!
I was looking over my music collection this weekend and think I will start a thread about "alternative" music ("alternative" as in left of the dial, not the garbage radio stations advertise as such). Any takers?
@fun.: Ha, my wife brought Tori Amos into our marriage. I hated her at first and was sick and tired of the agressive "jilted lover" female genre that filled up the 90s. However, over time I've come to appreciate a small number of her songs and she has a sound that really showcases an aspect the Towers' performance. My personal musical taste can be summed up by 2 words: John Cale.
1) American Heartland, Bela Fleck et al.
2) 96 Deg. in the Shade, Third World
3) Live Au Zenith, Alpha Blondie
4) Live in Japan, Rodrigo y Gabriela
5) Shadow Man, Johnny Clegg and Savuca
6) Ice Caps, Peaks of Telluride, Sam Bush, et al.

Listening to Muddy Waters, "Folk Singer"... Fantastic CD, excellent sound quality and sounds great on the Sierra Towers :D
Might be the best $5 I have ever spent...
http://www.amazon.com/Folk-Singer-Mu...t_mus_ep_dpi_1
Agreed, Prime is a wonderful thing and well worth the annual dues.
Just ordered my copy of "Folk Singer." Blues and folk music occupy a small percentage of my library. However, I purchased the album based on the samples, description, and customer reviews. Dave's hearty recommendation sealed the deal. He has good taste. :D
Dave, I like it when you spend my money! :p
Thanks for the recommendation. Can't beat 5 bucks!
I have added 2 Steely Dan songs to my iPod: Cousin Dupree and Jack of Speed.
Also, several different Genres/stations on Pandora streamed from my iPod Touch through a Cambridge Audio ID100 digital dock.
The Gotye station has some intersting stuff. I also listen to some Holly Cole, Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Lady Gaga(Sometimes!), Jesse Cook(Thanks to Dave's recommendation), Outkast(A little too much gratuitous swearing at times), and several others.
I haven't decided if I'm going to spring for the Muddy Waters stuff, but I trust Dave's musical picks.
Been enjoying "Of Monsters & Men" lately...sounds incredible on the NrT towers.
@Ed.
I do not listen to Lady Gaga (though I did buy my daughter a pair of 'Gaga" IEPs, built - and overpriced - by Monster/Beats) but I was at local dealer (a BIG shout out to Soundquest in El Paso) and he played "A Very Gaga Holiday". I was quite surprised: the recording is excellent (we listened on a Classe/Magnepan set up) and she actually has some pipes on her. The recording was minimalist and it sounded great (not like the over-compressed-radio stuff we out are force too put up with with every day). Good stuff!
;
looong time lurker - first time poster
try Don Ross, Passion Session
-Jesse Cook with less flamenco
and Meldody Gardot, My One And Only Thrill
- Norah Jones with more Jazz
acoustic and vocals on the NRTs ..................... man!
I get in the mood For Junior Brown occasionally. He is an astonishing Guitar player who uses an instrument called a Guit-steel. Double necked Six String, and Steel Guitar combined
http://www.juniorbrown.com/
Very True. He is such a crack up. The Old School Western style, his Guitsteel, technique, virtuosity, etc. have to be seen to be appreciated.
I Wish he had a DVD.
I encourage everyone to check him out on You Tube. Everyone I shared him with loved him. Jaws drop.
B.
My brother has toured with Mr. Junior Brown as a mixing engineer, front house engineer sittin' behind the mixing board making sweet music...He has some crazy stories about being on the road with this legend...;)
No Way!!!
I really want to see Junior Live. He was scheduled for Palisades Colorado, but cancelled. We were going to be near there. Have a place upstream.
Jr. looks to be a funny guy.

for your viewing pleasure may I present my older brother Brent Handy with his long hair, which if my grandmother was living would have cut that hair long ago :D
Scroll down a little under his work with the Tractors and looks like 2001 to 2003. he has also worked with kid band Hansen who also lived in Oklahoma at that time.
