Another surround placement question

I want to get my surround speaker wall mounts in place before my Ascend package arrives. I'll be wall mounting 170s as the surrounds (5.1 set-up) in a room that's open to the dining-room on the right side, and has a side wall on the left. My question is: how far off the left side wall should I mount the left surround, considering I'll be angling the surrounds inward towards the listening position?

I'm using Athena dipoles in my current set-up, and I have the left surround placed 2'' from the left side wall. I'd like to extend the distance between my 170s and have the left surround at 1'' - 1 1/2''. Is this a bad idea?
