Hey Fellas,

I'm curious - If I go off the deep end and try to do 340 Mains across the front in my HT instead of 170s, would there be any benefit to using a CMT-340M as an identical center speaker instead of a CMT-340C? I'm guessing the difference would be subtle, but I am curious. I will be putting in a front projector so the center speaker will be sitting on a stand just like the mains.

Looks like the same speaker to me.

The 340 center has the same drivers and tweeter. The tweeter is rotated 90 degrees keep the dispursion right and the crossover is tweaked to compensate for the baffle effect of being on a TV/in a cabinet.

In case you didn't get this from Quinn's post, that means you should get a regular 340 and not the 340C for this application (since it will be vertical and not have reflections off of a TV requiring the extra baffle compensation).

Haha, thanks for the translation. :p

That's what I figured the answer would be, but I wanted to ask in case there were any other differences I didn't know about. Unfortunately, the more I look at my budget it'll probably be 170s for me unless it turns out my room is too big (need to remeasure).

Oh hey Bradjudy, what is your avatar?

Jon,

It's an MRI of my c-spine (neck). Someday I'll come up with a better one, but I used it here for consistency (I also use this avatar on AV123).
