I was watching TV last week and realized my speakers are terrible! I bought my current setup (except the receiver) when we were living in a tiny apartment and I didn't know too much about home audio. I still don't know much, but have been trying to educate myself on what type of system I should be purchasing for my home theater needs. Ascend is on my short list of speakers that interest me right now, and I'm trying to figure out if I should spring for floor standing speakers or bookshelves for the front LCR.

My current system:
TV: Panasonic 65VT60
Receiver: Pioneer VSX-1120
PS3, DirecTV
5.1 Speakers: Klipsch Quintet II, KSW-10 sub
The main space is about 16x24 with the couch being roughly 20' from the TV. It's far, but that's the only way I was able to convince my wife we needed a 65" TV! The room opens up into the dining room which is probably also not ideal.
I think our listening habits are about 60% Movies/TV/Netflix and 40% Music.

Hopefully I can just upgrade speakers/sub without spending on other items.

Yeah....20 feet is really far. You should have gotten an 80incher.

Where in SoCal are you? I'm in Manhattan Beach with a Sierra-1/HTM-200SE setup. I sit 10' from a 60incher.
