Rear ported speaker to wall distance

Can someone help me understand the rear ported speaker distance to wall? Is more better?

I think, It is related to the port diameter. Is it also related to the minimum frequency response of the speaker itself ( I mean,58 Hz of the 58Hz - 22kHz +/- 3dB for CBM-170)?

More is better...in fact keeping a speaker away from walls is always a good idea.

How much clearance for a rear port varies by speaker and room. For the 170SE's, a few inches can be fine especially if you crossing them over to subwoofer.

I don't have a sub right now and I am planning to purchase Omnimount Wall mount for CBM-170SE. Do you think the clearance would be sufficient to avoid any muddy bass issues?

Yes, definitely not an issue with the 170's. The Omni brackets provide about 2.5" of clearance and that is ideal.

Sorry I missed this... There are far too many variables involved in determining a set distance from a wall -- it really comes down to one's personal taste. A general rule of thumb is twice the port diameter, but I have never quite understood the logic behind that recommendation as port diameter is only one parameter in determining airflow velocity and tuning of the resonator.
