Hello All,

I recently relocated to Los Angeles (Culver City) and find that for optimal listening my old speakers - JBL Century L100 and Fried - might need to be cranked up more than my new space can handle, and I need something closer to near field studio monitors. My main listening source is 78 rpms of the 1920s and 1930s, so I need punch and vibrancy in the midrange, and few contemporary speakers seem to work as well as older bookshelf models from the 1960s and 1970s. I'm hoping the Sierra 1 would be a good fit as I've read so many good things about them - but they might not be right for the recordings from that period. Is there anyone in LA who'd let me come by to check out their Sierras on a few CDs of remastered 78s? Or if you have any feedback on 78s and Sierras, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

And if you know of anyone with a 78 collection of jazz and blues from the 1920s and 1930s, I'm a very active buyer and will travel anywhere for the right collection.

Regards,

Jazzgypsy
