Todd,

How big is that TV? It makes the 170's look tiny.

Anyway, that's a sweet setup, I'm jealous.

Thanks John. The TV is a 65 inch Mitsubishi rear projection (WS-65813.)

Mitsu's got a nice TV....my cousin has the 73inch version in his basement theater, though not a built-in setup like you have. He run's an Atlantic Tech speaker package with HK's top end receiver. It looks great and sounds pretty darn good as well!

Wow....that looks nice!!

Any ill effects with the center being behind the door, especially with the piece of wood going down the center?

No ill effects at all. I have the 340 set slightly to the left so that the piece of wood in the middle falls between the tweeter and the right side midrange so it isn't blocking either one.

Todd,

VERY NICE looking set-up and extremely inspirational!! Thanks for the pictures... BTW, Where did you get your stands for the 170s?

Dave.

Thanks for the compliments Dave. I got the stands at Sears when I had my Klipsch Quintets. The platform is actually a little small for the 170s but I think I have them secured on there pretty good. I think they were $100 for the pair.

I wonder though, wouldn't it be better to move the 170's farther away from the tv on each side? Rearrange the Pictures a little bit? It just seems to me like it would sound all boxed around the tv rather than a wider soundstage.[?]

I've thought about that and I think I am going to play with the placement of them this weekend. It still doesn't sound "just right" and that may be part of the problem. Thanks for the thought...

fantastic setup. I wish I had something comparable :) I love the "Now Showing" and "Family Theater" signs...definately a nice touch. Great job...

My wife and I have a discussion about speaker placement on a regular basis. She likes the speakers as out sight as possible and I like them placed for optimum listening. Your picture of the entertainment center (impressive furniture) reminded me that it's all about compromises.
If and when the 340's make it to my house, the discussion could get a bit more heated. [:D]
