I'm recommending the following two DVDs here because of the audio.

"The Other Side of the Mirror" (2007) is the video collection of Bob Dylan performances at the Newport Folk Festivals of 1963-1964-9165. very early Dylan. The two best songs IMHO (although YMMV) are "Maggie's Farm" and "Like A Rolling Stone" and they are both the electric versions with Dylan backed by the Butterfield Blues Band (without Paul Butterfield). Mike Bloomfield shines and Dylan is awesome. Despite the numerous anecdotes -- not everyone booed!!!!! Another good piece but, unfortunately a clip, is a lean and mean Johnny Cash in 1964 starting "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right." Note that he is not wearing ALL black yet.

"Les Paul - Chasing Sound" (2007) is an extraordinary bio of the legendary Les Paul (92 at the time of this DVD and still playing every monday night in NYC). Besides everything else about Les Paul - this guy can PLAY!!! If you think you know or like the electric guitar (and/or multi-track recording) -- you need to watch and listen to this DVD.

They both sound sweet on my Sierras, as does this CD: "Son of Skip James" by Dion. Yup, that Dion (of Dion and the Belmonts fame). Ril kewl accoustic blues produced by Little Stevie.
