Suddenly confused about what to buy??

I dont know if this will help you much..but i just got the 340 l/r..and i love them so far..and they aren't even anywhere near to be broken in yet.

Because of the size of the room. I believe 340s across the front would be wise.

My room is smaller than yours and I went for 340s across the front as well as surrounds. If I were you I would definitely go with 340s across the front. 170s will be fine as surrounds.

The 340s a better speaker, no doubt, but if you're looking to save money, i think the 170s fill even a large room up with sound nicely. Ascend identifies the 170s as a choice for "large rooms".

My routine lately has been to start cooking in my kitchen when i get home, and jam some Josh Groban at 10 below reference (thanks clutchbrake) in my adjacent, large living room. Those 170s dont skip a beat when it comes to blasting my 1st floor with clean, powerful sound.
