I have read a lot of good things about the S38's. The best thing, which everyone preaches, is to get a pair of both and try them with your own room and equipment.

I read one review of the S38's here:
http://www.stereophile.com//loudspeakerreviews/365/index2.html

The reviewer compared the S38 to the Paradigm Studio 20v2. I liked the CBM-170 over the Studio 20....to me it was more balanced/refined.

If you get a pair of each...please let us know what you think.

Another thing....how big is your room? I would think about spending less on a quality subwoofer, and spend more on my mains, unless you already have the sub.

Well my room is 15x20. I don't already have the sub, but that is something I do not want to have to upgrade in the near future.

I had a larger budget for the other five speakers but need to build a new computer with the money. So my budget now is <$1000 and I figure I can always upgrade.

My room is 14'x18' with a sloping ceiling from 8' to 9', with one uncloseable doorway. With real estate prices in Southern California, my single VTF-3 is more than I would ever need.
